Reading is by far one of my favorite pastime activities especially during long commutes. When people tell me that they can’t get into reading, my answer is simple: “you are reading the wrong thing!” I truly believe that there is a book for everybody regardless of attention spans and distractions. If you can’t “get into reading” it’s because you haven’t found the right book, yet. Hopefully in this post you will find the book that strikes a chord and makes you want to read more. I’ve selected these books because they are relatively easy to read and understand, they are page turners, and they have absorbing story lines. Below are 5 books you absolutely must read during your commute (in no particular order)!

How to Win Friends and Influence People

How to Win Friends and Influence People is what I like to call the “Bible” of life. It is a comprehensive guide of the skill sets that every human needs to have and chisel to perfection in order to lead a fulfilling life. This book will teach you how to make people like you, listen to you and agree with you. It is a simple and relatively short read that you will likely revisit multiple times, I know I do. It is the perfect book to read during your next flight!

The Art of Hearing Heartbeats

A spectacular love story about a lawyer that disappears into the blue, leaving his wife and daughter behind without a trace. His daughter finds a love letter from many years ago and eagerly tries to solve the mystery of her fathers disappearance. I loved reading this book during my last flight because it is a page turner and I sincerely felt like I knew every single character in the story personally. I typically read non-fiction books so this was an incredible breath of fresh air and indeed a beautiful story.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck

I wasn’t quite sure if I should include this in my list however I can’t discount the fact that this will strike a chord with most. Manson makes a simple and important point: we can’t keep believing that being happy and positive is the key to a wealthy life. The reality is that we all struggle someway or another, we are all flawed and limited in abilities – the key is to stop avoiding and running away from these simple truths. The book is full of entertaining stories, humor and profanity. Easy read with many important points about life – as long as you can dig through all the F words to find them.

Rich Dad Poor Dad

Rich Dad Poor Dad is so important that it’s only $4.60 as Amazon’s Mass Market Paperback edition. It’s a practical guide to how money works and how it should work for you. Most importantly, it’s not a boring read about numbers and charts – it actually offers the steps you can take to be wealthy.

Adrenaline (The Sam Capra Series)

I can name only a handful of books that I read and perfectly envision each word in my mind like it’s a scene of a movie. This is one of them! Adrenaline is exhilarating from the first paragraph and makes you care about the characters much like you care about your family. It is one of the best thrillers of all time and a perfect book for travel because you literally won’t be able to put it down.
