Travel is great for many reasons, such as boosting your mental health, confidence, and giving you some experiences that you wouldn’t be able to experience in any other way. But the long haul nature of it, and the fact that you’re not in your normal routine or environment, can actually be something that can be a struggle and even a little stressful to deal with. So here are some tips to make sure that you can stay healthy and well when you’re out on your adventures.

Sleep

One of the best things that you can do when you travel is to sleep. This can seem pretty obvious, but it can be easily forgotten when you are crossing time zones and want to stay out late to get up early to experience different things. But your body needs plenty of rest when you are doing things out of your normal routine, and you’re likely to be doing more things like walking more, and so on, when you travel. How much is going to be different for different people, so it is important to listen to your body.

Stretch

If you have got a full day planned ahead of you, then it is a good idea to have at least ten minutes or so in the morning to stretch, wake up right, and start off your day in a positive way. You can feel really refreshed when you start the day off stretching. Think about your posture throughout the day too, especially if you are having a lazy sunbathing day where you don’t move too much. When you stretch in the right way, and do before bedtime too, it can help your muscles to relax, leaving you less sore and more able to get a good night’s sleep.

Exercise and Move

It will depend on where you are going and where you are staying as to how active you can be. But if there is a hotel gym, then make the most of it. A yoga center around the corner from your Airbnb? Book a class on a few of the days that you are there. You can always use parks and hotel rooms for exercise, from running to jumping jacks. Schedule it in and keep at it. Walking everywhere is a good idea too; good for the mind and the body. If you don’t keep up with an exercise routine, then you might want to head to somewhere like BodEnvy after your trip to give you a helping hand! But you can keep naturally healthy by sticking to a healthy routine.

Eat breakfast

It can be tempting to just skip breakfast and have an early lunch to save some money on your travels. But don’t skip breakfast! The old saying that it is the most important meal of the day still stands when you travel. It can be easy to get things from markets or stores if you’re not in a hotel that offers it, but make sure that you get something. It will give you energy for the day, and start your day off right.
