Of course, there is one major reason why a staycation – a vacation at home, or at least in your home country – is a good idea at the moment, and that’s obviously because of the global pandemic. It’s just safer to stay at home. However, sometimes the need to travel is an itch that has to be scratched for all kinds of reasons, including mental health.

A staycation can allow for all the fun of ‘true traveling’ yet keep people much safer, so it’s an ideal thing to do right now. If you’re not sure about the idea because you always associated travel and exploration with places that are further afield, or because you think you already know everything there is to know about your own city or town, don’t worry; here are some reasons to try a staycation that might surprise you.

Travel In Comfort

If you decide to travel abroad, you are more than likely going to need to fly. Although flying is the quickest way to get to your destination, it is also the most expensive, the most uncomfortable, and the most damaging to the environment. Plus, not only will you have to travel in a plane, but you’ll also need to arrange transport to and from each airport, and this will only add to these problems.

If you stay closer to home, you’ll have your own vehicle to use as and when you want to, with the only additional cost being more gas. If you’re taking a larger group with you, or you want to have a little more space, you can even look into a charter bus cost to the ultimate in staycation luxury.

There Is So Much To See

It doesn’t matter if you’ve just moved to a new town or you’ve lived there your whole life; there are still going to be places you’ve never been to and experiences you’ve never had. Maybe this is even more true if you’ve lived there forever because you could even take the beauty of your own town or city for granted. Yet what if you stopped for a moment and took a look at what your home has to offer? There is probably plenty to do.

Make a list of all the places you’ve never been to, such as museums, parks, galleries, restaurants, and so on. Try them all out on your staycation, and you’ll finish the time off work with a deeper appreciation of wherever it is you live. Even if you find you have seen everything your own town has to offer, what about the next town over? Have you wholly explored that?

You Can Be Spontaneous

Staying at home for your vacation doesn’t have to be boring. In fact, you can make it completely spontaneous, and that’s exciting. If you book two or three weeks off work, then the time is yours to do anything you want to. If you feel like going for a drive to explore, that’s precisely what you can do. If you want to stay at home and binge Netflix all day in bed eating takeout, you can.

The point is that the choice will be yours, and without work to prevent you from doing whatever your heart desires whenever it desires it, you can have the most amazing staycation enjoying spontaneity, which is a great stress reliever and can help you live in the moment.
