Known for being the playground of the rich, this vibrant and glamorous city has lots to see and do. Here are just some of the top attractions and activities that you can’t miss out on while in Miami.

Hit the beach

Miami has quite a few strips of beach to choose from. There are popular strips such as Fort Lauderdale and South Beach and there are more quiet beaches off the beaten track such as 85th Street Beach. In all cases, you can expect white sand and blue sea.

The Miami heat can be fierce so it’s important to drink lots of water. IV therapy services such as Reset IV can be used if you do get seriously dehydrated. Make sure to also slap on that sun lotion.

Check out the Art Deco architecture

During the roaring twenties, Miami became a hotspot for art deco architecture – and many of these historical buildings still exist here today. Consider taking a walk around the city and ticking off some of the most famous buildings. These include Hotel Breakwater, The Bass and The Colony Hotel. You could even stay in an Art Deco hotel.

Browse the museums and galleries

Miami has a fascinating selection of museums and art galleries. If you’re interested in learning about the history and culture of this city, make sure to give some of these attractions a visit.

A few great examples include Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, Wynwood Halls, and Perez Art Museum. In some cases, it could be worth booking tickets in advance.

Go on a mansion tour

Many wealthy and famous figures live in Miami (or at least have lived there). LeBron James, Jennifer Lopez, and Calvin Klein are just some of the celebrities known to have extravagant mansions in Miami. By taking a special tour, you can learn all about these mansions and the people that inhabit them. You may even get lucky and spot someone famous!

Try the Cuban cuisine

Little Havana is one of the most well-known neighborhoods in the city. Home to many Cuban exiles, the neighborhood has a heavy Cuban influence. There are many fantastic restaurants here where you can try authentic mouth-watering Cuban cuisine. Don’t forget to also try the local coffee.

Grab a cocktail

Miami is also known for its cocktails. You’ll find bars on every corner selling classics such as mojitos and daiquiris, as well as many experimental cocktails for those that fancy something a bit different. Some of the best bars are listed here at Time Out.

Plan an excursion to the Everglades

Miami is only a stone’s throw from the Everglades. These tropical wetlands can provide an escape from the hustle-bustle of the city and a chance to see some of Florida’s most exciting wildlife including manatees and alligators.

You can hire a car and drive through portions of the Everglades, but the best way to truly experience it is by boat. With the right boat tour, you can find the best wildlife-spotting locations.
